📖 Overview

For crypto newcomers: after reading you will know what USDT is, why MPChat uses it, and what to watch when using it.

If MPChat is new to you, top-ups and card issuance use a currency called USDT. This article explains it quickly.

What is USDT?

USDT (Tether) is a stablecoin.

  • Pegged to USD: 1 USDT ≈ 1 USD, backed by reserves from issuer Tether.

  • Stable price: unlike Bitcoin or Ethereum, suited for payments and holding value.

  • On-chain asset: runs on blockchains and moves globally like a bank transfer.

In short: USDT is “digital USD” for moving value on-chain.

Why does MPChat use USDT?

MPChat is a global crypto payments platform. USDT helps because:

  • Borderless: not tied to one banking system — users worldwide can top up.

  • Fast settlement: on-chain transfers often arrive in minutes vs. wire delays.

  • Stable value: deposits do not swing with coin prices, so you can open cards and spend anytime.

After top-up, MPChat converts USDT to USD when you issue cards or spend.

Which USDT networks exist?

Same USDT token, different blockchains. Common ones:

About

Traits

TRC-20 (Tron)

Most common

Low fees, fast

ERC-20 (Ethereum)

Legacy network

Higher fees

BEP-20 (BSC)

Exchange-friendly

⚠️ Critical: the network you pick when sending must match MPChat’s deposit address network. Wrong network = lost funds with no recovery. Supported networks and minimum deposits: see Which Coins & Networks Does MPChat Support for Top-Up?

Common beginner mistakes

  • Tainted / fake USDT: OTC or unknown transfers may be dirty or counterfeit, leading to freezes or loss. Buy on major exchanges — see Why Buy USDT on Exchanges (Avoid Tainted/Fake U).

  • Wrong network: see section above.

  • Wrong address: on-chain transfers are irreversible — verify the address before sending.

❓ FAQ

Can USDT suddenly become worthless?

USDT tracks USD and usually stays near $1. Brief de-pegs have happened but reverted; normal use is fine.

Do I need to understand blockchain to use MPChat?

No. You only need: buy USDT on an exchange → deposit to MPChat → open a card and spend. Follow-up guides walk you through.

Is USDT the same as USDC?

Both are USD-pegged stablecoins. MPChat mainly supports USDT — check the deposit page for what is enabled.

💬 Still having trouble?

Do not retry payments rapidly (risk systems may cool you down). Screenshot the error (mask card number & CVV), then tap the message icon in MPChat for 1:1 support.

Need an MPCard? Apply inside the MPChat App — a virtual card is usually ready in about a minute.
