Mixed Photo + Video Selection
The updated album picker in v1.7.0 lets you select both photos and videos at the same time and send them in a single batch — no need to send them separately.
How to send a mixed batch
Tap the + button in the chat input area.
Select Photos to open the album.
Tap to select both photos and videos — you can mix them freely in a single selection.
Tap Send. Items are sent in the order you selected them.
Selection limit per batch
You can select up to 9 media items per batch (photos and videos combined). For larger sets, send in multiple batches.
Video Size Limits & Behavior
v1.7.0 introduces tiered handling for different video sizes:
Video file size | How it's sent | What recipient sees | Notes |
≤ 500 MB | Video message | Video bubble — tap to play | Supports auto-play in chat list |
500 MB – 1 GB | Auto-converted to file | File bubble — download to play | Conversion is automatic; no manual steps needed |
> 1 GB | Not supported | — | Compress or trim the video locally first |
Other file types | File message | File bubble | All files: 1 GB limit |
Large File Notes
500 MB–1 GB videos: auto file conversion
When you send a video over 500 MB, MPChat automatically converts it to a file in the background — you don't need to do anything extra. The recipient downloads it as a file, which can be played in any video player. The video format is preserved; no re-encoding or quality loss occurs.
Data usage tip
Sending large videos or files over cellular can consume significant data. We recommend using Wi-Fi for transfers over 100 MB.
FAQ
In what order are mixed photos and videos delivered?
They are sent in the exact order you selected them in the album. The recipient sees the messages arrive in the same sequence.
If my video is auto-converted to a file, can the recipient still watch it?
Yes. The file retains its original video format — the recipient can download and open it in any video player. There is no re-encoding or quality degradation from the automatic conversion.
Is the 9-item limit per batch shared between photos and videos?
Yes, it's a combined limit: photos + videos together cannot exceed 9 per send. For example, 6 photos + 3 videos = 9 (at the limit). Send additional items in a new batch.
