What's New in v1.7.0
This release focuses on three major areas covering the full media messaging journey:
🖼️ Images: Higher Quality, Faster Loading
Chat bubble images now use progressive loading — a blurred placeholder appears instantly, then transitions smoothly to the full-resolution image. When sending, select "Original" to send without any compression. Recipients can tap "View Original" to download the highest-quality version, with automatic resume if the download is interrupted. Full-screen viewing supports two-finger pinch-to-zoom up to 5×.
🎬 Video: Larger Files, Mixed Selection
The album picker now lets you select both photos and videos simultaneously for mixed sending. Single video messages support up to 500 MB. Videos between 500 MB and 1 GB are automatically sent as files. The file sending limit has been raised to 1 GB.
📶 Video Playback & Data Management
Downloaded videos auto-play muted in the chat list, then play with sound when you enter full-screen. On Wi-Fi, videos download automatically as they enter the visible area. On cellular, only videos ≤ 100 MB auto-download by default. You can customize this in Me → General → Chat.

Do I need to update the app to use v1.7.0 features?
Yes. All v1.7.0 features require the latest version of MPChat. iOS users: update via the App Store. Android users: download the latest APK from MP.NET.
Will existing messages be affected?
No. The changes only apply to messages sent or received after updating. Existing chat history remains unchanged, though progressive loading and resume download also work when loading older images.
Can the recipient see my original-quality photo if they haven't updated to v1.7.0?
Yes — the original file is downloadable regardless of the recipient's app version. They may not see the "View Original" button in older UI, but can still download via the standard full-screen view. Both parties are recommended to keep the app up to date for the best experience.
