Progressive Image Loading
Starting in v1.7.0, images in chat bubbles use progressive loading: a blurred low-resolution placeholder appears instantly, then transitions smoothly to the full-quality image. You can keep scrolling through your chat history without waiting for each image to fully load.
How to Send an Original Image (No Compression)
Steps
Tap the + button in the chat input area.
Select Photos and choose the image(s) you want to send.
Before sending, tap the "Original" checkbox near the send button.
Tap Send — MPChat transmits the file without any compression.
Note
Original files are larger than compressed versions and consume more data. We recommend sending large originals over Wi-Fi.
View Original & Resume Download
How to View an Original Image
Tap the image in the chat bubble to enter full-screen view.
Tap the "View Original" button — the app begins downloading the highest-quality version.
The image updates automatically once the download completes.
Resume Download
If your connection drops or you switch away from the app during the download, the system saves your progress automatically. The next time you return and tap "View Original", the download continues from where it left off.
Pinch-to-Zoom & Pan (Up to 5×)
In full-screen mode, use a two-finger pinch gesture to zoom in freely — up to 5× magnification for fine detail. After zooming in, drag with one finger to pan around the image. Pinch out to return to the fit-to-screen view.

FAQ
Does sending "Original" use more data?
Yes. Original files are significantly larger than compressed versions, so both sender and recipient will use more data. We recommend using Wi-Fi when sending large original images. Recipients can also choose when to tap "View Original" to control their own data usage.
When exactly does the resume download kick in?
Resume is triggered whenever a "View Original" download is interrupted — by a lost connection, backgrounding the app, or closing MPChat. The next time you open that chat and tap "View Original", the download picks up from the last saved checkpoint, with no need to restart.
What is the maximum zoom level, and is rotation supported?
You can zoom up to 5× in full-screen view, with free panning at any zoom level. Rotation gestures are not supported in the current version. To rotate an image, save it and open it in your phone's native Photos app.
