MPChat splits accounts into two tiers — Registered and KYC1 — with KYC1 unlocking the full MPChat experience. This article shows what each tier can and cannot do, so you can decide whether to verify.
MPChat identity tiers: Registered and KYC1, and what each unlocks
The two tiers at a glance
MPChat's identity tiers are designed so you only verify when you need more:
Registered — anyone who completed phone-number sign-up. Lets you chat, transfer with friends, and explore the wallet, with conservative limits.
KYC1 — passed identity document verification (passport / ID + selfie). Unlocks card application, the highest in-app and withdrawal limits, and the standard MPChat experience.
Capability comparison
The table below shows the core perks and limits per tier. Numbers shown in-app are the source of truth.

Quick recommendation:
Just chatting and small in-app transfers → Registered is enough.
Need a virtual card, everyday usage, and higher withdrawal limits → upgrade to KYC1.
How to upgrade to KYC1
The upgrade happens inside MPChat in just a few minutes: open Profile → Identity Verification, take a photo of your passport or national ID, and complete a quick selfie liveness check. OCR pre-fills your data so you only review and submit. See How to complete KYC1 in MPChat (OCR-assisted).
Privacy and data handling
We use your verification documents only to confirm your identity and to satisfy regulatory requirements. They are stored encrypted and never shared with other MPChat users. You can review the privacy notes shown on the verification screen before submitting.
Frequently asked questions
Do I have to verify? Can I just use chat?
No — chat, friends, groups, and small in-app transfers work without any KYC. Verify only when you want a card or higher limits.
If I never go beyond Registered, will my limits stay the same forever?
Yes. Registered limits are stable. They will only change globally if regulations require it, in which case we will notify you in advance.
What if my KYC1 is rejected?
You will see a reason on the result screen and can resubmit. Most rejections come from blurry photos or partially cropped documents. The attempt does not affect your current Registered status.
