I. Understanding Passkeys
What is a Passkey? Why use it to replace traditional payment passwords?
To provide stronger fund security protection and a smoother operational experience, MPChat has fully introduced the Passkey feature. Using a Passkey has the following core advantages:
Higher level of security protection: It enables hardware-level identity verification, completely eliminating the risk of traditional passwords being stolen or leaked, and fully aligns with the industry's "passwordless" security trend.
Smoother user experience: Say goodbye to tedious password memorization and input. You can quickly complete security verification through your device's built-in one-tap biometric recognition (such as Face ID or fingerprint recognition).
II. Applicable Scenarios
In what business scenarios will the Passkey be used?
After the upgrade, the Passkey will be widely used in your core business and high-frequency operations. Specifically including:
Account login: Supports one-tap passwordless login by verifying the Passkey.
Fund transfers: When withdrawing, transferring, sending crypto red packets, and transferring funds, confirmation via Passkey is required.
Card management: When applying for a new card, viewing sensitive card information, freezing or unfreezing a card, and deleting a card.
💡 Friendly Reminder: The older version of the client can still use the payment password, but after upgrading to the new version, the above scenarios will directly use the Passkey to replace the original password verification. If you have not added one yet, the system will prioritize guiding you to complete the addition when performing the above operations.
III. Device & System Requirements
Can all mobile phones use Passkeys? What are the requirements? The underlying Passkey relies on newer operating system capabilities, so there are certain requirements for your mobile device:
System version: Your mobile device needs to be upgraded to iOS 16 or Android 14 and above to support creating and using Passkeys. If your device's system version is lower, the system will prompt a pop-up advising you to change your device or upgrade the system.
Exclusive tip for Apple users: Before adding a Passkey, please ensure that the official "Passwords" App is installed on your iPhone. If not installed, the App will provide a direct download link to the App Store.
IV. Management & Reset
Can the name of my Passkey be modified?
Yes. The Passkey name will default to displaying the mobile phone model of the device used when adding it, but you can customize and edit it at any time.
Naming rules: Supports a maximum of 20 characters (Note: One Chinese character counts as 2 characters; English letters, Emojis, symbols, etc., count as 1 character). The renaming operation does not require additional security verification. It takes effect directly after saving, and you will receive a "Rename Successful" prompt.
Can I add multiple Passkeys? What should I do if I change my phone or want to reset it?
Currently, only one Passkey is allowed to be added per account. Once a Passkey is successfully added, it cannot be directly deleted. If you need to change your device or key, you must replace the existing key through the "Reset" process. To ensure the absolute security of your account, the reset process has extremely strict security risk control standards:
Must complete Identity Verification (KYC): You must first complete the platform's identity verification before you can reset the Passkey.
Mandatory facial recognition: Strict facial recognition verification must be passed before resetting. To prevent malicious operations, a maximum of 10 facial recognition attempts are allowed per day; once the limit is exceeded, you will be unable to continue resetting for that day and will receive a system notification.
Operation time limit: After your facial recognition is approved, you must complete the addition of the new Passkey within 10 minutes. If no action is taken within the time limit, facial verification will need to be performed again.
