Starting with MPChat v1.6.0, the US Advantage Card (a Mastercard-branded virtual card whose number begins with 528…) is no longer offered to new applicants. Existing cardholders can keep using their card until expiry. This article explains what changes, what stays the same, and which card to apply for instead.
MP Card update: US Advantage Card (Master) is being phased out
What changed in v1.6.0
To simplify the card lineup and focus on a single, broadly accepted product, MPChat has paused new applications for the US Advantage Card (Master). Going forward, all new card applications will be issued as the Asia Pacific Advantage Card (Visa).
Effective: v1.6.0 release date. From this version onward, the US Advantage Card option is removed from the card selection screen.
Scope of pause: new applications only. Reissue and replacement of existing US Advantage Cards are not affected.
Reason: we are streamlining the lineup so we can deliver a faster activation flow and prepare for future products such as physical cards.
If you already own a US Advantage Card
Your current card is unaffected. The full feature set, fees, limits and balance you already have remain the same:
You can continue to use your US Advantage Card for online and in-app purchases until the printed expiry date.
Top-ups, refunds, and existing subscription bindings continue to work normally.
If your card is lost, frozen, or close to expiry, follow the in-app card management flow as before.
If you choose to delete or close your US Advantage Card, that decision is final — you will not be able to re-apply for the same product type after deletion.
What to do when your US Advantage Card expires
Once your existing card reaches its printed expiry date, you will not be able to renew it as a US Advantage Card. To keep using a card after that point, simply apply for the Asia Pacific Advantage Card from the card application screen. The new application uses the streamlined v1.6.0 one-tap flow — see Apply for an MPChat card with one tap (v1.6.0).
Why we recommend the Asia Pacific Advantage Card
The Asia Pacific Advantage Card is now MPChat's primary card product. Compared with the previous Mastercard option, it offers:
Wider acceptance across Asia-Pacific merchants and global subscription services.
Apple Pay / Google Pay binding is not yet available on the Asia Pacific Advantage Card (the team is working on it).
The new one-tap activation flow introduced in v1.6.0 — most users complete card issuance in under 60 seconds.

Frequently asked questions
Do I lose money or balance if my US Advantage Card is deprecated?
No. The deprecation only affects new applications. Your card balance, transaction history, and pending refunds are fully preserved on your existing card.
Can I switch my US Advantage Card to an Asia Pacific Advantage Card right now?
There is no in-place switch. You can keep using the US Advantage Card until expiry, and apply for the Asia Pacific Advantage Card at any time alongside it.
Will the US Advantage Card come back?
We do not have plans to re-open new applications. We will continue to expand the Asia Pacific Advantage Card and prepare future card products, including physical cards.
What if my US Advantage Card cannot complete a payment after the deprecation?
Card-level acceptance has not changed because of the deprecation. If a transaction fails, the cause is the merchant or the transaction status, not the deprecation itself. See the help center articles on declined and pending transactions for next steps.
