What it reads: only MPChat user QR codes (add friend) and MPChat personal payment codes.
What it does not read: WeChat, Alipay, merchant, URL, or exchange/wallet on-chain address codes are not recognized here.

📖 Overview
Scan in Chat and on Me is for adding MPChat friends and paying an MPChat payment code. External QR codes will not succeed — that is the current scope, not a fault.
Labels follow what the App actually shows.
✅ What it can scan
Add a friend: scan an MPChat user QR code. Use the camera, or pick a QR image from your album.
Pay a payment code: scan another MPChat user's personal payment QR to send money. You do not need to add them first. See What is a payment QR code?
🚫 What it cannot scan
These two entries do not read external QR codes. Pointing the camera at one usually yields nothing you can act on — no payment, no friend request.
WeChat, Alipay, or other apps' payment or profile codes
In-store merchant codes, URLs, or invite-link codes
Exchange or personal-wallet on-chain deposit / receiving-address QR codes

To scan an on-chain address: for a Pay withdrawal to an exchange or external wallet, open Assets → Withdraw and tap the scanner beside the address field. See Scanning an on-chain address. Why does nothing happen when I scan WeChat, Alipay, or a merchant code?
Scan in Chat and on Me only accepts MPChat user QR codes and MPChat payment codes. WeChat, Alipay, and merchant codes are external and are not recognized here.
Why does scanning an exchange or wallet deposit address do nothing?
These two entries do not read on-chain addresses. For Pay withdraw, open Assets → Withdraw and use the scanner beside the address field. For Web3, pick token and network first, then scan. See Scanning an on-chain address and Which chains and tokens does the Web3 wallet support?.
Can I scan a QR image from my album?
Yes — pick an image from your album. The image still has to be an MPChat user QR or MPChat payment code. External codes are not recognized either.
