Can I update my identity information before my document expires? Entry, editable fields, and failures

Yes. The verification info page has a permanent entry for updating your identity information — no need to wait for expiry. Nationality and document type cannot be self-edited; you get processing, success, or failure notifications.

⚡ Quick summary (TL;DR)

  • You can update proactively: no need to wait for expiry — the verification info page has a permanent update entry.

  • Most fields are editable: you can correct the extracted values, but nationality and document type cannot be changed by yourself.

  • You get notified: after submitting you receive processing, then success or failure notifications.

  • Failures can be resubmitted: if values do not match the document and review fails, correct them and submit again.

📖 Overview

Previously you were only prompted to update your document when it was about to expire. Now the verification info page has a permanent update entry, so you can submit proactively — for example after getting a new document or to correct a name spelling.

📍 Where to find it

  1. Open the MPChat App and go to the identity verification area to view your verification information.

  2. On the verification info page, use the entry for updating your identity information — it is always available, no expiry prompt needed.

  3. Follow the prompts to rephotograph your document, check the extracted values, and submit.

✏️ What you can and cannot change

Field

Self-editable

Document number, name, date of birth, expiry and other extracted values

Yes — correct them on the review screen and submit

Nationality

No

Document type

No

What you submit must match the document exactly. Changing values so they no longer match the document will cause review to fail.

🔔 Notifications after you submit

  • Processing: your document information is being read.

  • Updated: the new identity information has taken effect.

  • Failed: you are told it did not go through and can correct and resubmit.

ℹ️ How this differs from expiry reminders

When a document is close to expiry MPChat prompts you — see Document expiry: how MPChat reminds you. This article is about the update you can start yourself at any time, without waiting for that prompt.

❓ FAQ

What if my nationality is wrong?

Nationality and document type cannot be self-edited. Contact in-app customer support and explain the situation so they can help.

Does updating identity information affect my existing limits or cards?

The update concerns your identity details. If review does not pass, follow the notification to correct and resubmit. For questions about specific limits, ask in-app support.

The extracted values differ from my document — can I just type over them?

Yes, the review screen lets you fix mis-reads, but the result must match the document exactly. Values that do not match will fail review.
