⚡ Quick summary (TL;DR)
Multiple links: only the first valid link in the message gets a preview card; the rest stay as blue tappable text.
MiniApp links: the card shows Open; ordinary website links do not, and have no special icon.
Slow or broken: after about 5 seconds, or if the link errors, you only see the text link.
📖 Overview
When a message contains a URL, MPChat may show a preview card underneath so you can tell what you are about to open. Here is when a card appears, what it looks like, and what happens on failure.
1️⃣ Which link gets a card
If a message has several links, only the first valid link gets a preview card. Later links stay blue and tappable, but each does not get its own card.
🧩 MiniApp cards vs ordinary links
MiniApp link cards include an Open button so you can enter the app directly.
Ordinary website cards have no Open button and no MiniApp-specific icon.
🖼️ What appears on the card
Optional image: if there is no suitable image, no empty placeholder is reserved.
Bold title: up to about 2 lines.
Description: up to about 2 lines.
⏳ Timeouts, errors, and fallbacks
If preview loading takes more than about 5 seconds, or the link fails (unreachable / server error): only the text link remains — no card.
When an ordinary site has no preview text: the title often uses the site domain, and the description may take the first couple of lines of page text.
If the image fails: ordinary links may use a default image or hide it; MiniApps may show the app’s default image.
