⚡ Quick summary (TL;DR)
Where: open group chat details → Group management → Join verification.
Who approves: the owner, and admins who have the approval privilege.
When off: people who use invite links join the group immediately — no approval wait.
📖 Overview
If someone taps an invite link but still cannot get in, the group likely has join verification on: applicants wait for the owner or an admin with approval rights. This article covers how to turn it on/off, who can approve, and what each side sees.
📍 Where to find the switch
Open the group and go to group chat details.
Open Group management.
Find Join verification and turn it on or off.
ℹ️ Permission
Usually only the owner or an admin with the matching management permission can change this switch. If you do not see it, ask the owner.
👤 What applicants experience
After applying via an invite link or another join entry, with verification on they stay in a pending approval state and are not full members yet.
Until an admin acts, applicants generally cannot send or receive group messages like a normal member.
On approval they enter the group; on rejection they do not join (follow client prompts to retry later or contact the inviter).
✅ How owners and admins approve
With join verification on, new join requests appear in the management entry points shown in the App. People with approval rights can:
Approve: the applicant becomes a member and can chat normally.
Reject: the applicant does not join.
🔑 Who can approve or reject
The owner can always handle requests. Admins need the matching approval privilege (see the group admin privileges article).
🔓 After you turn it off
When join verification is off, people who join via an invite link enter the group immediately — no approval queue. To keep control, leave the switch on, or use other group controls (rotate invite links, adjust admin privileges).
❓ FAQ
I tapped the link — why am I still outside?
The group likely has join verification on. Wait for the owner or an admin with approval rights, or ask the person who invited you to follow up.
An admin cannot see join requests — why?
Confirm join verification is on and that admin has the approval privilege. Otherwise ask the owner to handle it or update admin privileges.
